Religious Program
and Objectives |
At St. Matthew’s Lutheran
School we believe that God has made us his children and
heirs through the life, death and resurrection of God’s
One and only Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Therefore, we are committed to helping each child of God
develop and grow in their God-given abilities through a
quality Christian education in a loving, Christ-like
environment, and to share God’s love with those whom we
serve.
In order to accomplish this we include teachers and
students devotions, religious instructions and worship
(Wednesday Chapel). And respecting the Christian belief
of all individuals, we help the child grow as follows:
In Relationship to God:
- Teach each child how to use and read their bible
- A growing knowledge of our Triune God- Father, Son
and Holy Spirit.
- Understand the consequences of sin.
- Learn how to pray and the proper use of prayer.
- Learn the 10 commandments and the Lord’s Prayer
- Learn Christian ethics and values through bible
stories.
- Learn the major church holidays such as Christmas,
Holy Week, the Resurrection and more.
- Increase their love and faith in God.
In Relationship to Self:
- An attitude of self-worth as a child of God
- Understanding and accepting responsibility.
- Realize the need for a real relationship with God
- Logical and creative thinking and good habits.
- Develop healthy Christian and social skills.
